“Extra” – Crimdella

Crimdella’s latest video “Extra” will take you on a trip throughout New York City but more importantly introduce you to who he is as an artist. Each verse packs a powerful punch with important lyrics. Crimdella isn’t afraid to tell you his story over a hard hitting beat from MNDCFT either. He says that we need to be about the causes we support, not just talk about them. It’s one thing to share an article on social media but it’s another thing to go walk amongst the protestors or show up at city hall or start honest discussions surrounding the topics. Crimdella wants you to be about it.

Arriving on the birthday of his late father, noted pan-Africanist and activist, Elombe Brath, Bury Me In Gold vol. 1 finds a supremely confident Crimdella delving deeper into his signature take on hip-hop, which he has coined “trap-power.” Crimdella has been perfecting his songcraft on each record, painstakingly deconstructing and reconstructing his style. Bury Me In Gold vol. 1, represents a decisive milestone in his work. Appearing on this record mostly as his brash alter-ego BlackZeusX, Crimdella candidly explores the depths of despair he experienced following the recent passing of his father, and how that turmoil led to revelation and his own self-realization as a black man in a world increasingly hostile toward him. Bury Me In Gold vol. 1 is the Harlem emcee’s uncanny, definitive manifesto.

“Class Is In Session” – Cliz

Before you tune in to one of the most controversial songs Cliz has written to date, he wants to clarify that he believes in education wholeheartedly. Does our educational system need work? Yes…but that’s not the point. He believes that we all need to be exposed to every spectrum that falls under the educational umbrella. But he also believes that our purpose on Earth cannot always be taught in a classroom or lecture hall. Cliz’s purpose is to tell stories. Stories through the lens of experience, hardships, but most importantly, commitment.

Cliz’s new single, “Class is in Session”, tells the story of his leap of faith. One that required him to make a difficult choice. Was he supposed to pursue what he has been specifically put on this Earth to accomplish? Or does he establish a “Plan B” and enroll in a 4-year degree program just to attempt to make others happy, but ultimately, not himself? These are questions that some of us will face and Cliz explores in his latest release. Will you make the right one? #MayNothingStopYou

“Class Is In Session” is also available on all major streaming outlets.

D. Horton

D. Horton is no stranger with working alongside KT Got Beats for production and today they make magic again with “For Love”. The record induces feelings of the “Golden Era” of hip-hop with KT’s Tupac-driven production, using his posthumous “Do For Love” as the force behind it’s creation.
Horton shines once again lyrically, with subject matter ranging from social inequality, crime within the black community and his own personal plight and tribulations. The Mississippi native has stated that Allen Iverson’s recent Hall of Fame induction was the source of inspiration here, and with rhymes this good Horton may soon find himself in rap’s own Hall. As D. Horton prepares for his next project release come September 23rd and a performance at A3C Festival, songs like this one are sure to build anticipation going forth. Listen below.
